Huawei is out with regret? The global chip market is undergoing a major reshuffle, and Kirin chip is about to “return to zero”
As we all know, Huawei has reached the "peak of life" in 2020. Huawei's mobile phone business has the support of Hisense Qilin chip, once surpassing Apple and Samsung, and has succeeded in becoming the world's first mobile phone manufacturer. Huawei's 5G communication business is also very helpful. With a large number of 5G patents, Huawei has become the most popular 5G equipment supplier in the world, pushing down many old communication manufacturers such as Ericsson and Nokia.
However, the strong rise of Huawei has made Lao Mei feel uneasy. In order to suppress Huawei and other Chinese enterprises and regain the right to speak in the industry, Lao Mei has been either "bad" or "bad" in recent years. As a result, the global chip market has undergone a major reshuffle. Qualcomm has chosen to lay down, Apple has chosen to lie flat, MediaTek has seized the opportunity to make a surprise, and Huawei HiSilicon has "regretfully been out".
According to public data, MediaTek will beat Qualcomm with 39% market share in the Q2 global SOC market share list in 2022, ranking first for nine consecutive quarters, while Huawei HiSilicon's market share will fall to 0.4%, which is equivalent to "zero".
As Ren Zhengfei of Huawei said, the United States does not want to hurt Huawei, but to kill it. In fact, it is the same. Since the chip rules were modified, HiSilicon has become a "device". Neither TSMC nor the EDA software required for chip design is available. From the market share data of the past five quarters, it is not difficult to see that Huawei HiSilicon's Kirin chip inventory is approaching the limit, and it is only a matter of time before it is completely "zeroed".
Then the question arises. Only 0.4% of the market share remains. Is HiSilicon so important to Huawei? The answer is yes. Even if Hisense was abolished by the United States, Huawei did not intend to abandon it. It even promoted Hisense from a secondary department to a primary department, which is no less important than Huawei's core departments such as cloud computing and BU operator BG. It can be said that if Huawei succeeds in overcoming the difficulties one day, Hisense's chip design technology is an important chip in Huawei's handset turnaround.
Most importantly, Ren Zhengfei of Huawei also said that there is no profit requirement for Hisense, and we will continue to support this team, insisting that basic research and development is the only task of Hisense.
In addition, Huawei is also making efforts in the fields of chip overlay technology and superconducting quantum chips. In particular, the chip overlay technology is most likely to help Huawei solve the "neck problem" for no other reason. Apple has successfully developed a high-performance M1 Ultra chip using the chip overlay technology.
It is worth mentioning that Huawei has also published a lithography machine patent entitled "Reflector, lithography device and its control method", which also means that Huawei has entered the field of lithography machines. In the near future, Huawei may complete the production of HiSilicon Qilin chips by itself.
Of course, it is difficult to achieve the goal of high-end chip localization with only one patent and one Huawei. What is exciting is that Chinese enterprises, including SMIC International, Ziguang Zhanrui, Ali, Shanghai Microelectronics, are accelerating the research and development of the "China Chip" manufacturing process, and even Lenovo has "reformed" and announced to join the team of self-developed chips.
Therefore, we have every reason to believe that it will not take long for Huawei to join hands with the king of Hisense Qilin to return. Now, the "zeroing" of the Qilin chip is only temporary. As long as Huawei does not choose to "lie flat", Huawei will not be "out". What do you think about this? Welcome to leave a comment and share.
